Get Involved

Community fundraising plays an essential role in raising awareness and funds to help support the 41,000 animals we care for every year. Holding your own event during Awareness Week is a fun way to help raise vital funds.

We can guide you on running your event, and provide posters and brochures to help make your event a success. Below are a few fundraising ideas, but the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

Community event ideas

Trivia night

Trivia nights are a fun way of getting groups of people together to raise funds for the RSPCA. For example, ask friends, family, work colleagues, clients etc. to fill tables of ten at a cost of $10 per person. There could be ten rounds of ten questions with small prizes for the winning table per round and a prize for the overall winner.

Sausage sizzle

Why not hold a sausage sizzle at your school, workplace or community group? Companies such as Bunnings and Mitre 10 will also allow you to organise one onsite.

Dress down day at work

Organise a casual dress down day at work and ask participants for a gold coin donation to be donated to RSPCA Qld. To get in the spirit, perhaps staff members could dress up as their favourite animal!

Barefoot lawn bowls

A set entry fee could cover food, drinks and green fees. You could also have prizes for the worst roll, best costume etc.

eBay auction

Got a painting with nowhere to hang it? A set of golf clubs that you just haven't used? Put unwanted or donated items for auction on eBay and donate the money towards your fundraising goal.

Movie nights

Cinemas can be really helpful and open their doors for a movie screening, with a percentage of ticket sales to go towards RSPCA Qld.

Guessing competition

How many dog biscuits in a jar? (e.g. $1 donation to guess)

Self sacrifice

Make the ultimate sacrifice and give up chocolate for two months and ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your pledge! Or instead of buying your morning coffee or lunch, make it at home or work and donate the money you would have spent towards achieving your fundraising goal.

Sell chocolates

We are looking for willing volunteers to sell boxes of Cadbury® chocolates on our behalf. You can sell them to your workmates, fellow students, friends, neighbours — anyone! To find out more visit the chocolate fundraising page on the main RSPCA Qld website.

Support the paw!

Become an RSPCA SuPAWtor and join the growing number of businesses that are contributing to the care and protection of animals at RSPCA Qld each year, through our Paw Box program.

To become a SuPAWtor and have a Paw Box in your school or workplace, please register here.

Garage sale

Collect household items, books, clothes, furniture and bric-a-brac from friends, family and co-workers and hold a garage sale. Advertise in your local paper or in the relevant section in The Courier-Mail. Invite your friends to help on the day.

Sell RSPCA merchandise at your workplace

RSPCA will give you small items of merchandise such as keyrings, pens, badges, toys etc, to sell to work colleagues, friends and family, or at your workplace reception or counter. Contact Rosanna Ryan on (07) 3426 9943 or .

Awareness and education

Raising awareness of the work of the RSPCA is a very important first step in educating the public on animal welfare issues. RSPCA Qld can send a representative to your workplace to speak with your group about the vital work performed by our Society.
